Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Bluebird Lane?

Bluebird Lane is a rental retreat house that is designed for scrapbookers, quilters, and crafters of all mediums. We do not offer any services or sell any hand made products at the house. Nor do we allow any business activities by those who rent the house. We do have Bluebird Lane branded T-shirts available for purchase.

Q: Do I have to have 15 people in my group to schedule a weekend?

No, we have a 3 person minimum to open the house. If you are a single reservation interested in mixing with other crafters we can pencil you in on your preferred dates. If there is not enough interest to have a complete group of 3 for that weekend we will reach out for you to reschedule. If you have a group of 4 ladies you might be mixed with another group of 7 ladies. It’s fun to mix and mingle with new folks. And hey…you just might learn a new technique!

Q: What is the Maximum number of guests that the retreat house can accommodate?

There is a total of 15 beds and 15 craft tables. The house can be rented as a “whole house rental” dividing the space and costs amongst your group privately  OR the via individual rentals. Individual rentals just covers a bed and crafting table for an individual retreater. The remaining spots will be open to other crafters.

Q: How do I find the dates available so my group can select dates that work for us?

Visit the events calendar to see what spots are spoken for on each weekend. 15 spots are available for each weekend. When the calendar reflects 15 spots or the weekend is marked “full house rental” those spots are not available.

Q: Can I come and stay for only one night?

To make it fair for all the guests staying during a weekend, we only offer overnight retreats. This includes Friday through Sunday of crafting. We understand weekends are busy for everyone and you are welcome to come and go as you please throughout the weekend.

Q: Can I stay an extra night?

Of Course! We do offer Thursday “pre-retreat” and Monday “post-retreat” overnight stays. The extra night is $50 and must be scheduled with your original retreat. This extra day does not include food.

Q: How do I make a reservation?

Send your reservation request via our sites contact page. Call or text via our direct phone line or reach out via Facebook messenger on our Facebook Page- Bluebird Retreat

Q: What steps must be completed to stay at Bluebird Lane?

Full payment must be paid 30 days before arrival for your retreat weekend. Each guest MUST sign a waiver before their stay. Waivers are available via electronic signature emails as well as hard copies.

Q: I need to cancel my weekend retreat; can I get my money back?

All individual reservations require a non-refundable $50 deposit. Full House reservations require a $500 deposit of which $100 of that is Non-Refundable. Cancellations prior to 30 days of your visit will warrant a refund of monies paid MINUS the $50 individual deposit or $100 of the full house rental deposit. Alternatively monies can be set aside for a reschedule within 1 year of cancellation. Cancellations within 30 days of the scheduled date, no refunds will be provided for individual rentals OR full house rentals. Monies can be set aside for a reschedule within 1 year of cancellation. Please remember we try to prepare for your weekend stay early. This includes food, snacks, supplies, etc. Each spot that is “saved” is a spot we were unable to offer to another guest. View our full Cancellation Policy.

Q: How do we get in the house if no one is there?

You will not have keys available for entering the house. We have a keyless entry system which allows our guests to have the convenience of entering and exiting throughout their weekend stay. We will provide an access code with the check-in information email the week before your stay. This access code is changed for each group of guests.

Q: What do I need to bring?

Pack just as if you were staying in a hotel! Your personal items including toiletries. We provide towel, beddings, extra blankets, paper goods, a stocked kitchen, etc.

Q:  Is internet access available?

Yes, Bluebird Lane has the fastest Wi-Fi available to us in the area. It is via a rural telephone company so there can be slow times. We are looking forward to upgrading as soon as this is available. The Wi-Fi passcode is posted throughout the house.

Q: Do you have craft supplies?

Most guests bring their own supplies for crafting. We have electronic devices such as a cricut and a wide format printer. We provide some basic supplies such as punches, cutters, stamps, inks, etc. We also have very generous guests that love to leave items to share. We have a “take a Penny, Leave a Penny” Policy, so therefore extra ribbons, papers, stickers and supplies can be found in the craft rooms.

Q: All my friends are coming, can I just come on Saturday and craft for the day?

To make the weekend prices fair for everyone we only offer full weekend retreats. We often have several groups from different areas, and it is unfair to offer a discounted rate to someone local while everyone else pays full price.

Q:  What time is Check-in and Check-out?

For weekend rentals you may arrive after 9am on Friday. Check-out is prompt at 4pm on Sunday. Additional nights can be added on.

Q: Why is there no host at the house throughout the weekend?

We chose to keep Bluebird Lane as an “unhosted” retreat simply to keep cost at a minimum to our customers. Both the sister’s juggle full time jobs and families, so hiring outside hosting would add a huge expense to our retreat cost. The main items a guest is responsible for are warming meals, keeping food mess, and trash to a minimum, leaving your bed unmade for clean-up, and locking up the house before you leave! (It’s not too bad!)

Q: Part of our group is on a special diet. Will you alter the menu for our weekend?

The weekend menu is set each month, and many of the meals are precooked and frozen for the following weekends. Unfortunately we cannot tailor to each person’s personal preferences or health concerns. This allows us to keep our cost and waste to a minimum. Allowing us to pass that on to our guests. However, the kitchen is fully stocked and fully functioning so everyone is welcome to cook to their preferences.

Q: Do you have snacks and sodas?

The fridge is stocked with soda, and there are sweet treats, chips, and snacks throughout the house. Back-stock of the soda provided is in the pantry for each group.

Q: What is included in the food provided?

When you arrive at BBL there will be a “suggested Menu” Posted on the fridge.  We do not cater to specific menu requests or dietary needs. There are 6 meals provided. The menu changes throughout the year, but here is an example:

Friday Lunch –  Chicken Salad Croissant Sandwiches, served with chips and fresh fruit

Friday Dinner – Lasagna Rolls, served with green salad and french bread

Saturday Breakfast – Waffles, served with fresh fruit

Saturday Lunch – Deli Sandwiches, served with fresh fruit and potato salad
